So this week is a little different as we’re not featuring a typical “Brand”, instead we’re focussing on a company that acts as a platform to shop all your Raw Denim needs…
This WHOLE week is a @cultizm week and we are really excited to have this ‘Raw Denim. Best Brands’ juggernaut associated with us here @clobbercalm HQ. It should be a fun ride so get yourselves strapped in!
Today, we have Dejan (CEO) who is going to give us an insight into the philosophy behind @cultizm from ‘The Brands…’ perspective and there’ll be images a’plenty, littered through, of brands I’m sure most of you are familiar with. Heck, most of the brands they stock are already littered all over our “desert island” if you catch my drift 😉

1. Straight forward, please tell us, how did your company Cultizm start out? (For people that don’t already know)
In fact it’s been quite a long way: From shares proprietary trading to unemployment after the burst of the internet bubble to founding an internet company and starting with selling Levi’s Vintage and Nudie Jeans – actually, you might say it’s a little bit romantic. So basically, I started my Cultizm business directly from out of my garage.
2. Tell us. What does a day in the life of yourself look like? What’s your daily work routine?
Usually I start the day with reading emails and sending tasks to my employees. Afterwards, I drive my son to school and after that I head to the office and speak with my employees. Typically, that part of the day is followed by meetings, meetings and even more meetings. But all of that we do with pleasure and the will to make Cultizm better with lots of heart and passion.
After work I start my second career with sports like soccer, running or riding my bicycle to reset the mind.
3. What are your top 3 bestselling items? Why do you think this is?
• Raw Denim
Raw Denim is our DNA and the rest is an add-on to our raw denim style.
4. What’s your personal favourite garment when it comes to the items you offer?
That would definitely be the Nudie Jeans Grim Tim Dry Selvage! In my opinion the Grim Tim cut is a true all-rounder and probably one of the greatest fits you can wear. Also, we started with Nudie Jeans so it is a matter of the heart.
5. What are your thoughts on the rise of Instagram fashion and the chaps that post their clothing on there to help spread the word of their fave brands?
Personally, I think Instagram offers a fantastic opportunity to gain worldwide attention. It’s quite inspiring to see that so many people from all over the globe love the same thing that we love: the raw spirit and the culture behind it. If you buy raw it is more than just a simple purchase. In doing so you show your appreciation for sustainability, the manufacturing process and of course the people behind the brands and all of that is what makes this culture so unique.
6. Has it made an impact on your business at all, do you think?
Yes, it has indeed. A lot of especially rather young new customers find their way to Cultizm through IG channels where people share the same passion and do so in their own way.
7. Is there any feeds on IG that you particularly like to check-in on regular. What brands are you fond of on there? What menswear feeds to you like to peruse?
Actually, I got to know Oldblue Co. through Instagram, a fantastic brand directly from Indonesia. It is exciting to discover new brands and to see how these brands are growing with us. Furthermore, it’s really important to be open-minded in this way and it’s a gift to share it to the world. Every day we find new inspirations and ideas that help us to refine our business and brand portfolio.
8. How does a relationship with the brands you offer start? How do the products become available through Cultizm.com?
If we do not have a relationship like friendship, we will not sell the brand. The people makes the difference. Humanity, mutual appreciation and trust are most important factors for our internal and external business.
9. What do you consider to be the best thing about your business and why?
Surely one of our core parts is our customer service. We try to offer the best customer service we can because this is the opportunity to exchange with our customers. I’m convinced that our personal way of communicating and listening to our customers is what makes us so unique and special.
10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island and you can take 1 outfit (4 items) only with you. And 1 choice of drink.
What would they be? And Why?
I would take with me:
Tea, I cannot live without that…
A V-neck, a Short or Surf Short and 2 raw denims made by Nudie Jeans and LVC, probably the last opportunity to break the denims in.
Really, really great to get a different insight Dejan.
