Ok I confess, I have actually had this 10@10 for well over 6 months and Tolga aka @laermkulisse has been very patient with me when it comes to getting this 10@10 hit live. In fact many of the dudes have, and for that I just wanted to take the time to quickly say thanks! 🍻
Now when I think of Tolga I think of this image…
From the moment I saw it it stuck with me and, in my mind, it’s the best interpretation of what we are all doing here. We’re buddies and what’s strange but wonderful is that it’s through an App in an electronic device. Now I know many people who would have a cynical point of view for the sentence I have just typed and no doubt a lot of their points would be valid but personally I would never have got to know and interact with so many likeminded people without said application on said device. Not in my town anyways! There are many postives to being part of a Social Community and Tolga knocked the nail on the head with his portrayal of our light hearted friendly IG shenanigans.
A rock solid @rgt fan (again)…hello Karl 😉 Tolga keeps it simple and all about the DENIM. Fucking perfect Eh?!
*8%?! Wow! I’m starting to feel goooooooooood…
MEET THE MAN BEHIND THE MENSWEAR
NAME: Tolga Han Karaca aka @laermkulisse
LOCATION: Heidelberg, Germany
1. So Why Instagram?
My wife talk me into using Instagram, she used it but I really didn´t want to use it. Then I started to post just random pics that I took with my phone. I really got excited as I started the Rogue Territory Slub Fader Contest in September 2014. It was really fun and I found many friends there.
2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?
In summer 2013 I shot pictures for an online shop of a denim company with a good friend. As we looked through a Denim magazine he told me about Selvage Denim and that japanese denim would be the best. This made me curious, and I read all about Selvage Denim, Raw Denim and how great it will look after wearing. After a few weeks I bought my first Denim. It was the A.P.C. Petit Standard in August 2013.
3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?
I think it´s nice to see more people doing this. It´s great to see how it gets bigger and bigger. I mean the community.
4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?
Rogue Territory – First time I saw the denim of them was on rawrdenim.com (heddels.com) it was a Fade Friday feature of the Dark SK. I really wanted to buy some denim from them but there was no retailer in Germany at the time. So I went to their homepage and bought my first Raw Denim from the U.S.A., and don´t regret it. Why Rogue Territory? Perfect fit, they have a really great Customer Service and have built a great community on Instagram.
Pure Blue Japan – My first Unsanforized Denim. Just got them one month ago, but I love how raw the Denim is, and the leave on the back pocket.
Lee – Love their Western shirts, just easy to wear!
5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands?
6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your clobber on social media?
Firstly I just began to show my fades of my APC in 2014. But it really started with the Rogue Territory Slubfader Contest. This was really a great year, we all started with the RGT Slub 16.75 oz. Denim and it was just fascinating too see how this denim started to fade all different. Maybe I did’t win the contest, but I think I won something that is more important than any price. Good friends!
7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?
Almost all my Images, are taken by me. I have an SLR, a Nikon D300s, what´s great about this camera? It has an interval timer. I just put the SLR on a tripod, and every 7 seconds my camera shoots automatically. For the Details Pics, I love to use my Iphone 6s!
8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?
I think it would be unfair, just to mention a few. Just check out my 500. post (see Intro), I think all of them are worth checking out!
9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?
If you are new on Instagram, you should post regularly. Try to post everyday. Use good Hashtags (I´m still not good at this). Maybe create your own Hashtags. Be social, look at things you like and comment on things you like. And if somebody asks you questions about sizing or something else, answer their questions. I’m still not good at this Instagram thing, but I don´t really care about how many followers I get. I think it’s more important, to get in touch with people that share the same love of something, that other people might not understand.
10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island and you can take 1 outfit (4 items) Only with you.
What would they be? And Why?
A new pair of Rogue Territory Slubs, it just has the perfect fit, and it fades really nice.
A pair of Alden Indy Boots, don´t try them before but they look great!
My Dark Supply Jacket by Rogue Territory, love the fit!
RGT Neppy Western Shirt – I just love the fit and the amazing fabric.
Yes Tolga. That is one strong beard brother, dark as night and strong as an ox. Top Stuff!
Well, like I said, all about the DENIM and an @rgt warrior. I do however have to bring up the fact that the ever popular Alden Indy Boot made it to the Island before owning a pair and putting miles on them?! Who knows?? Blisters brave Narrrrrr just kidding, we don’t actually give a hoot. Folks can take whatever kit they want! Thanks for the time Tolga, you the Man! Stay close.
Ok so, Monday. Monday, Monday, Monday. What do we have on Monday?
Well Monday sees us focus on the Raw Denim Brand @sageseesmore! I love these guys. Have you seen their fades??? Ok, well we don’t usually do this but here’s a mouth wetter…
It’s gunna be good so swing on by and enjoy it with us dudes? Live from 10pm GMT as always.
We know it’s not perfect yet as we’re still learning but the product on there is so damn good! We love independent small businesses and what they do so this is us doing our very best to support them in an overpopulated fast-fashion world where shit is made in a sweatshop and lasts 2 maybe 3 washes maximum! THE PRODUCT ON THERE IS HARD AS! I know…I use it, I wear it and I stand by it! Go check it out as all the bigger boys started where these guys are and it’s a privilege to be able to vouch for these dudes and dudettes! HERE it is again so go visit.
Have a tip-top weekend folks, #chuckday is right around the corner which can only mean 1 thing…more beer!
Love your family. Respect your friends. Enjoy your time and stay close!
See y’all next week.
