Hello people.

A few months back we decided to start a new mission here @clobbercalm HQ (the island in my kitchen)…the mission; to create ‘The Denim Map’. A map that, no matter where your travels takes you, will mean that you’re always able to find the local store stocking badass denim/boots/leather and anything else that’s cool!

Now it’s obvious we can’t do this alone and, also, that would be a little tedious and boring so instead we invite YOU guys to help us build the map! Your words! Your thoughts! Your local store! This project is about #teamdenimworldwide. To follow on from the first few pins HERE, HERE and HERE we’ve gone to one of team @clobbercalm, in Dave Mathias aka @drmmathias to “pin” next…

Dave: This feature will be all about Go Forth Goods @goforthgoods but first a few words about myself. Hello! I am Dave, @drmmathias and I’ll be helping with some of the blogging on, what I consider the awesome clobber blog, @clobbercalm you are reading.

The basics – I am in my early 40s. I have three great kids and a wonderful wife. I’ve just relocated from Central Illinois to Atlanta, Georgia. For one of my many hobbies (denim!!) I participate with 4 other great denim enthusiasts (@bothrops1, @sel.vage, @johanmalik80, @aegishandcraft) on the @clobbercalm.threadsnfades2017 fade project running all day every day during the year of 2017 so we can compare each of our respective @shockoe_atelier Kojima denim fades…

During the fade project in a discussion with Ben he recommended I throw some of my passion into this blog. Great idea Ben! That’s what brought me to this point where I’m helping with the clobbercalm blogging!

So enough about me, on to the feature!! Go Forth Goods is a leather shop in my neck of the woods. Now I have plenty of leather shops I cherish, but I really appreciate the products of this company along with the fact they do a lot giving back to the community which I love. This includes giving, a whopping, 10% of their profits back to the community through donations to charitable organizations! Check out their website for more info on their charitable activities, awesome stuff really. Besides being great people and a great company, the leather crafts! Awesome stuff. Without a doubt…here is their story. Enjoy!!

So, as David rightfully says, let’s get on with it as @drmmathias pins @goforthgoods to The Denim Map.

NAME: Go Forth Goods aka @goforthgoods
LOCATION: Marietta, GA
WEBSITE: www.goforthgoods.com

1. What is your background and how did you get into your current business?

I started a creative marketing agency back when I was just 21 and did that for 15 years. After about 12 years of doing that I starting looking into doing something different. An exit strategy if you will. One day while packing up for a family vacation I had a bag break on me.

Being frustrated that so much now days is made as a cheap disposable product designed for maximum profit but not quality, I decided to look into making my own bag that would last. I started first making smaller items like wallets and belts and it quickly took off. 6 months later I had created my first bag and the rest is history.

2. Describe your business model and products?

Make quality, lifetime guaranteed products with great minimalist design and practical functionality. Have the best customer service in the industry, treating people the way you want to be treated. Then finally give back to the community and inspire others to go forth and do good also. Our product range is broad and ranges from wallets, belts and key fobs, to totes, duffles, backpacks, messengers and satchels.

3. Where do you see your business a year from now? Three years from now?

A year from now I see us in more stores across the US and to have added 6-10 new products to our line up. Three years from now our goal is that we will have started to be a household name in American handmade leather goods.

4. If you had to pick one product you’re most proud of what would it be and why?

That would have to be the Gunnar Duffle. It was the first duffle bag I made and it’s still one of our best sellers. Its a great bag that looks great and holds all I need for a week long trip and I can just throw it over my shoulder and go.

5. Who are some people you rely upon for your business success or who have helped you along the way? How did this person or these people help you in your business.

I would say that my dad has always been a great person that I have talked with the most for business advise. He has owned and or run many companies over the last 30 years and so his experience and wisdom has been very helpful. Another big element and something that I put a lot of stock in, is my faith in God.

6. Besides your business and products, what are some of YOUR favorite businesses?

Some of my favorite companies that I look up to are Patagonia, Filson, Huckberry, Helm Boots, Red Wing Boots, Flint and Tinder and Richer Poorer.

7. What are your favorite Instagram accounts you follow?

I love old motorcycles, 4×4 trucks and architecture, so some of my favorites are Iron and Air, Brother Moto, Saint Motors, Pipe Burn, Iron and Resin, Alloy and Grit, The FJ Company, Dwell Magazine and Lamon Luther.

8. Outside of work what are your hobbies?

I love to do outdoor activities like trail running, hiking, cycling, rock climbing and adventure races. I also enjoy when I get the chance, to play guitar, write songs and sing.

~ Notes ~

Dave: Well that’s a wrap on this feature for Go Forth Goods.

As you read this and sipped your beverage of choice, hopefully it gave you at least, at a minimum, a bit of perspective on what kind of company Go Forth Goods is. The products are great, I have personally inspected three Go Forth Goods products (Leather Valet Tray, Leather Field Notes notebook cover, Long Wallet) and the materials used and craftsmanship is top notch, I LOVE the products.

But it’s not just the products. The company vision is solid as well when you consider the goals. But most importantly, the PEOPLE are really the engine here. Good people making a strong company, great products, and giving back to the community to make the city they live in and the world a better place. This is what the ‘Denim Map’ is all about, the “lifeblood” of the ‘Denim Map’ if you will…

If you are ever in the Atlanta or the Marietta area you should drop in to see them in action! I hope you enjoyed the read.

If any of you fellow blue bloods, like David, have a store either close or far that you are enamoured with then feel free to give us a shout. Now that the features are flying out we want to keep pinning to ‘The Denim Map’, either with a feature like this one or just by adding to the Denim Map page that will be set up soon. Hit us up in the comments, through our Contact page or via our various Instagram accounts and stay close peeps.

Ben @clobbercalm.
