So, it’s Thursday dudes and this week is DENHAM week. We have already had Founder, Jason Denham, himself speak to us last Monday HERE regards his beautiful denim brand aka @denhamthejeanmaker. Tonight we tackle ‘The Men Behind…’ with a difference.
Tonight we share the usual 10 questions across all the staff over at @denham_uk. They each give a little to the feature and it kinda works…I enjoyed it anyway!
All the lads over @denham_uk are great, this edition of the 10@10 reads great and I’m 5 cans deep on the Coors Light. The “Light” means you can drink twice as much yeah? Silver lining eh!

4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?
My very first pair of Dr Martens was the Black 1460 (8 eye) boot when I was 14 years old, I came across the brand when my family was looking through the photo album and I saw my dad in the 1914 (14 eye) boot. When I saw the photo I thought his style was pretty cool with his black drain pipe jeans with a turn up and bracers. I do have to say that the style has been passed down from generation starting with my granddad, he still rocks around the house with his bracers on. Now at the age of 20 I have lost count how many different style Dr Martens iv had ranging from the originals too the Lamar’s. I’ll always wear Dr Martens because of the history of the brand and how they will never go out of fashion.
Denham has some really cool store’s, I love the vintage design interior of the stores and everything has a story behind it all from the shop floor to the jeans that are hanging up. I first visited the store when I moved to Leeds to start my degree at Northern School Of Contemporary dance, I was welcomed in by everyone and offered to be shown around the store as I was so intrigued about seeing the first store in the U.K. They told me about the designer, brand and the Candiani Mill. I tried on a pair of jeans and never felt jeans like it. They were so soft and the fits looked great. I’d never by any other jeans after feeling theirs.
I find topman really useful for certain bits like plain t-shirts. Sometimes you just need a plain t-shirt under a really cool jacket or coat. They have a choice of fits for example muscle fit and slim fit, I do prefer the muscle fit. Also joggers and vests are brilliant for the everyday gym session and brilliant for dance rehearsals. When I have a dance performance the first place I like is Topman because they have pretty much everything, if the performance is at a club or a professional staged performance – Topman can cater for it.
5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands?
My first experience in the Dr. Martens store was in my home town in Birmingham, because my college was in the city centre I would always go to town on my free periods and go exploring for new shops and hidden gems, and check out the Dr. Martens store to see what’s new there. I’ve never really liked shopping online, always preferred going into the store and seeing how thing look and fit. But since I’ve moved to Leeds it’s been outstanding, the building are beautiful, the people are friendly and chilled you never feel rushed and they have some really cool independent shops.
6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your threads on social media?
Social media is probably the best thing to connect to new people and find out new thing. You can literally use it for everything, for example telling people about new products, skin care, showing off fashion, talent. I love taking fashion to social median because there is so much to learn from different people, with different styles, with different opinions. I use my Instagram for anything really, manly fashion clubbing and taking pics with friends. Especially on Instagram it’s a whole new platform to share things that you love.

7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?
We take all our photos as a team, the Instagram is left open on our store phone for whenever a team member gets an idea. We’ll be walking around our store and all of a sudden one of us will see something that would look great in a picture, or one of us will be in a creative mood and create something from scratch. Looking at our likes gives us a good idea on which images do well, but we always like to mix it up.
8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?
We always take inspiration from our other DENHAM accounts from across the world, We will see one of there images and re-create it to our taste and fanbase. We specifically love @denham_japan, their Instagram is full of life and imagination; there’s not one photo that is boring or bland. Each photo is well thought out and positioned accordingly.

9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?
The main tip that I suggest is follow the right people. If your aiming for a specific audience then targeting is crucial. If you have a certain account that you take inspiration from then have a look at who they follow and then hit ‘follow’. There is no point in following a breakdancing account if you are trying to aim for a Redwing/Selvedge Jean sort of range. Also have a look at how often they post, once a day is common but if they haven’t posted in months and months then it might be a dead account. Posting the right images is also a great tip, spice up your images with different angles, varieties of clothing etc and don’t seem too one dimensional. If you post multiple eye catching images every day then you are bound to get your followers. Common times when people are browsing their phones are early in the morning, lunchtime and tea time so this will be a good time to get them live on your account. Lastly, hashtags ‘#’ are what people search for to find a certain market, when I want inspiration for tattoos I search #tattoo, #tattoos #ink etc etc so use them as much as you can.
10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island, you can take 1 outfit (4 items) and 1 drink ONLY with you.
What would they be? Who made them? Why are you taking them?
I do a lot of walking so footwear is crucial. Adidas Gazelles are constantly on my feet as they are comfy to wear, look slick and everyone knows someone who has a pair. Desert island makes me think it’s hot which means shorts weather. I have a pair of DENHAM Razor Chino Shorts in navy blue and they are comfiest shorts I’ve ever had. Didn’t take long to break in so I was happy from the day I bought them. My third item would be a white high roller t-shirt from topman, again the pure comfort aspect came into my mind and the white would repel the heat. My last item would be an umbrella hat!!! Keeps the rain off my head and the sun out of my eyes!! Drink……easy….. a double rum and ginger with a slice of lime on ice. My outfit is very easy and laid back but I’m a laid back guy so go hand-in-hand.
See, it worked yeah? Let me know your feedback dudes as I may take this approach with a few other 10@10’s I have in the pipeline. Only if the dudes think it fits like a pretty jigsaw of course!
Also, if you live in or are visiting the Yorkshire area looking at adding your first/some more DENHAM to your life, be sure to call into the store in Central Leeds and quote “clobbercalm10” to receive a 10% discount on all products! Cool eh?? A little Brucey* if nothing else…
*Brucey – When somebody gets something a little extra for nothing, hence a Brucey Bonus!
Stay close people, much love.
